I am sorry to hear of such a great loss. He was part of our family at LASD. I pray that he is resting in peace and in GODS Loving arms.

its really mind blowing to see something like this happening...he was a war hero....and then he gets killed in los angeles....this only proves one thing......gangs control the cities.....not the police.......we need to crack down on all these hoodlums and take back our streets, becuase this becomes another third world country!!

It's a shame that criminals will associate their gang names and worthless deeds with a particular country or ethnic group. And then rally around it as if they represent all members of that particular people. These blind leaders of the blind only serve to destroy the people and neighborhoods they claim to protect and own.

As a teacher, I have seen young men and women like Abel meeting the tough pressures of our "mean streets" at our schools. I am proud that Abel Escalante met those forces with such esprit and love. I pray for his family. I hope the politicians and other officials follow their words with continued vigilance and proactivity. I know other Abels out there need our support, collective watchfulness, and strength. They cannot do it alone.

Gangsters. Some of you are beyond redemption. For those who are not, in Gods name, stop the madness. Find it in your heart to start loving and stop hating. IT'S YOUR ONLY HOPE. Life is precious and not something to be taken away on a whim. Some people may not understand, but just as I'm praying for the Escalantes and all the other victims of your mindlessness, I'M PRAYING FOR YOU. Ask God to forgive your sins and you will be delivered. YOUR WAY IS NOT THE WAY AND IS AN ABBERATION IN THE EYES OF GOD. Wake up before it's too late. PEACE.
